Welcome to HEAR Africa! HEAR Africa exists to provide HIV/AIDS Education and Awareness Resources to the youth of Africa. African governments are struggling to meet the health needs, let alone being able to implement prevention methods, for the growing HIV epidemic. Especially in sub-Saharan Africa, it is not unrealistic for countries to have over 20% of their population infected with HIV, according to the United Nations. HEAR Africa is currently developing education and awareness resources to be accessible to and usable by all African youth, to contain truth about HIV/AIDS infection and prevention, and to share valuable information for those already living with the virus. The initiative is a signature effort of The C4 Group, in partnership with International Evangelism Outreach and a growing number of American businesses and faith communities. Initially, efforts will be focused on the country of Tanzania. Through appearing annually for the last several years at a pastoral training conference there, The C4 Group has been able to build relationships with key leaders that have opened the door to this current opportunity. Working directly with the Tanzanian government, Tanzanian Pentecostal Council, and American faith communities and businesses, HEAR Africa will be building a unique and reproducible model of coalition for raising youth awareness on this and other important issues. This initial effort will also allow for the first two resource tools to be implemented and evaluated: a comic book and solar-powered audio device, that will be accessible to all youth – literate and illiterate, urban and rural. These resources will give African youth the truth about HIV, ways they can prevent the virus from becoming a part of their lives, and how to live with the virus if already infected.
